5 Steps For Better Skin Now
February 26th, 2010
I think we can all agree that your skin’s youthful appearance depends largely on how you care for it, more so than your age.
When you take EVEN small steps towards a healthier lifestyle, depending on your present condition, you can SEE positive results in your skin within weeks, if not sooner.
I created a short list of things that you need to do or not as the case may be, towards better skin NOW and greater more beautiful skin for life.
Your Skin’s Youthfulness Has Less To Do With Age
Do stop smoking. The skin of a season smoker appears wrinkly and dry, especially around the mouth area. Additionally, smoke particles can clog your pores making then appear larger. Smoking is the second biggest reason for skin damage after sun exposure. Why? Nicotine constricts blood vessels and decreases the flow of oxygen to the skin.
Do eat foods or take supplements rich in antioxidants. Dermatologist Leslie Baumann, suggests in Elle magazine, that you take both oral and topical antioxidants for the best possible results on your skin. I agree, not only do I have a proper antioxidant topical face cream but I drink a daily green juice. Both help me in keeping a youthful, radiant glow to my skin. I highly recommend that you do both.
Do use an eye cream daily. The skin around the eyes is very delicate and doing this step will prevent or erase crows feet. An additional step that I highly recommend is for you to use mineral makeup with an SPF built in. I like the Eminence Organics Sun Defense, is gentle enough for the eyes and will protect your entire face as well.
Do exfoliate once a week. This is a true skin care fundamental that will erased fine lines and wrinkles and will add a natural glow to your skin. The slight abrasion triggers the skin’s healing mechanism thus producing collagen and elastin, two vital proteins for youthful and firmer skin.
Do use sunscreen year round. Even in cloudy days you are not protected from the sun’s UV rays and the sun can cause damage to your skin regardless of the season. The sun causes free radicals to surge, these unstable particles produce a domino effect causing rapid damage to entire cell colonies. It is this same process that causes apples to turn brown and iron to rust.
The above are simple steps that anyone can take. Use them EVEN if you only start with one. I guarantee that you will see a fast result when you do for better skin NOW!
