A Holistic Approach To Skin Care

January 6th, 2014

What does holistic mean? Before I get to that, let me start with this point. In this day and age skincare has gotten to be very complex. And this is why I try to simplify my approach and use natural and non-invasive means. And although some of this means have been around for hundreds if not thousands of years, in today’s marketing, they are breakthrough and innovative treatments for the perfect complexion.

My goal for people is to teach them to take skincare back to basics and in many cases reset it and move it away from “fast and easy” as they are not safe. My believe is that beauty and your skincare routine should start with how you feel.
My approach in 2014 (and has always been) is to emphasize a woman’s idea of her own beauty or help her define it as this is what matter most in retaining her own integrity and sense of confidence. A confident woman is truly a beautiful thing.

Many skincare experts and health gurus will say that some of the best things you can do for your skin go well beyond slathering on serums. And I totally agree as you also need other components to perfect skin. Some are: a balance diet, regular exercise, sufficient rest, proper management of me time in order to reduce stress.

It’s important to view and care for the body as a working whole. This is actually what holistic means and its my general approach to skincare. This is why I recommend nutritionist, acupuncturist, a funny movie to ease stress or an inspirational book to help you achieve flawless skin. They are all connected.

Your skin is a reflection of your overall health and there are definite things you can do topically, internally and mentally to improve it. So don’t think of skincare as isolated procedures but as part of a whole.

The achievement of beauty, liking yourself, aging gracefully, amongst other things, are unique to each and everyone of us. And whether you are interested in treatments or not, realize you need a comprehensive approach, that involves the whole, in order to arrive at your beauty goals.

Don’t take the modern approach to health as it is presently. As it is a super-specialization of medicine whereby each section of the body has its own expert, like the heart, the feet, the skin, the ears, nose et al.

The Moral Of The Story

Tackling the whole of your life can be quite overwhelming, career, relationships, exercise, nutrition and so much more. The old adage that “Rome was not built in a day” is very applicable and a good lesson for us all. So it does not matter if its one thing or a hundred things that you need to work on 2014. Work on them gradually until you conquer the whole.

Gradually improving some aspect of your life will make you feel great and make you more confident. And what’s more beautiful than confidence in self?

In 2014 I want you to think of yourself as a young-blood, age defiant, bold and beautiful. I want you to think of your 20s, 30s, 40s and so on as your best decade yet.

Remember, that each year gives you the age advantage and wisdom that comes with it, this is beauty at its best. Tackle boldly that fitness routine, skincare, or nutrition and the internal elixirs like vitamins. And don’t forget to read an inspirational book to help you see new horizons. All of these factors will make you more appealing, attractive and beautiful.

Lastly, I look forward to seeing you at the salon where you will be dazzled by how great your skin looks.
