How it works? Light therapy takes advantage of the sensitivity of cells to light in order to achieve its effects. The human body, while not able to perform photosynthesis, is able to use light rays for various purposes like metabolizing vitamin D for example.
However, the effects of light therapy depend on the type wavelength the light provides. This means you can just place any old light bulb to your face and expect youthful glowing skin. It is the light’s wavelength that determines its color and its benefits.
Infrared therapy uses relatively long waves of light, and are able to penetrate fairly deeply into the skin. The disclaimer is that the light source must be powered properly to be able to do so. Infrared light stimulates the activity of fibroblasts, which are responsible for making collagen and elastin. As many of you know these are the two vital proteins needed for youthful, radiant skin.

A 2005 study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Laser Therapy examined 31 subjects who received eight treatments of infrared LED light therapy. After the treatments were done, 52 percent of the subjects had significant improvement of their facial appearance as measured by a technique called photoaging scoring.
In addition, 82 percent of the patients reported that they had a marked reduction in facial wrinkles, especially around the eyes. This study concluded that LED light therapy represents a valid and effective way of treating wrinkles and other blemishes for many people
As skin ages, the ability to heal slows, which may cause conditions such as wrinkling. A commonly asked question is how many treatments do I need to see the results. Per the 2005 study the answer would be eight for most people to see results. However, I always recommend 6 to 12 treatments at least once a week to start. This is part of igniting your cellular metabolism to peak performance and to see results faster.
Also, you will need maintenance as this is a requirement. For example even when you achieve your peak weight in a diet or through exercise you’ll still have to maintain some sort of healthy diet, otherwise you’ll gain it all back.
