March 21st, 2015

Coming out of the deep thaw of one most intense winters it may show around your eyes.  There are simple ways to make the dark circles of the dreary extended snow season disappear.  As we emerge from cabin fever into the spring we want that feeling of renewal in ourselves—that bright-eyed glow!  With a few easy tips from NYC’s skincare guru you’re assured a return to the appearance of good health with refreshed ageless eyes.

What are the leading ways to eliminate dark circles?

Celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas suggests excellent remedies for what’s commonly known as raccoon eyes.  She advises a holistic approach to achieving completely flawless skin: dedicated natural face care regime, a healthy diet and regular exercise to sweat out toxins and revive radiance.  And, of course, professional care in the form of therapeutic facials is essential for more thorough cleaning to maintain a healthy youthful complexion. This will be your best defense against recurring dark circles.

In an interview with Jossbox, Ms. Vargas shared this tip: “LED Light Therapy Is my favorite anti-aging weapon. It’s a proven technology that literally works on everyone – it erases fine lines away, especially if you’re doing repeated sessions. It’s been shown to build collagen in quantifiable percentages, which translates into better elasticity – when you do this around the eye, it plumps the skin up and helps with dark circles.”  In addition she recommends eye creams with the botanic known as arnica that has natural soothing and de-puffing abilities. Judging from her growing list of celebrity clientele who reach visible perfection in her care, this advice is working.

What DIY remedies can I try at home?

Cucumber is always at the top of the list for calming the eyes and reducing the surrounding darkness.  But there are also apple slices (preferably green) as the perfect anti-inflammatory when resting on around the orbs.  Lemon juice has skin bleaching effects that with a dab of a cotton ball to the eyes you’ll notice the darkness fade.  Fresh organic peppermint leaves have been known to do the trick as well.  Each of these require a mere 10 minutes of contact to see a visible difference.

Can juicing really help dark circles?

Among Joanna’s reliable fixes is a tried and proven juice recipe.  The blend of fruits and vegetables detoxifies and enhances lymphatic draining that reduces puffiness and restores noticeable radiance to anyone’s eyes.  This is a brightening and toning elixir with parsley in the lead for reducing water retention in the most effective way with age-reversing results.

What causes dark circles?

Take your pick, there are many reasons why dark circles appear around the eyes:

-Sleep loss
-Intense stress
-Genetic trait
-Unhealthy lifestyle
-Lack of hydration
-Excessive crying
-Natural aging process
-Illness or allergies
-Diet lacking in sufficient nutrients
-Too much screen time (computers/televisions/video games)

As you see by the list some of these are preventable while others are not. But vigilance is easy when you have a daily routine that addresses the issue naturally.  Consult with a trusted aesthetician for a customized regime to help combat the dark circles if it’s an ongoing issue for you.
