Skincare And Beauty Treatments
March 3rd, 2011
Margaret Wolfe Hungerford, Irish romantic novelist said, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, and being a romantic soul myself, I assume by extrapolation, that there is someone for everyone, and that, I think is a beautiful thing.
However, I think all women want to be as beautiful as possible and to as many people as possible, and with today’s ingenious skin care and beauty treatments to combat beauty bad days, like frizzy hair, wimpy lashes and flawed skin you can increase the beholders gaze upon you.
Here are some beauty ideas that will help you to increase your appeal and not just on the skincare side of things.
My two estheticians, Lena and Melissa, swear by a gel manicure as it can resist chipping two to three times more than a traditional manicures and the results could last about two weeks.
Your nails get prepared as usual but each time a coat is applied, the color gets cured by a UV light for a few minutes. This yields a hard, dry finish making them chip resistant.
When I want to relax and have a special treat for my hair, I head over to Butterfly Studio. My favorite is the Mitsu Ceremony. Picture being in a soundless room in a comfortable chair while someone is applying a fortifying conditioning treatment to you hair and scalp. The best part is the incredible shiatsu inspired massage they do to work the product into the hair. After your blow dry, your hair feels like silk for weeks.
The massage helps to invigorate the scalp, increasing circulation and nutrients to it, therefore promoting healthy hair growth.
Lash extensions have come a long way since their advent in the 60’s. They don’t come off with the rest of your makeup anymore.
If you never had lash extensions before I recommend that you tell your technician to give you a more natural look by starting at the outermost corner of your lashes instead of getting a full set.
Lashes are thickest in the middle of your lash line, so emphasizing only the outer corner can enhance your eyes in a more natural way. Of course, the lash girls at Butterfly Studio are experts, so you can always ask them for advice.
One of my most favorite beauty routines is seeing my nutritionist Sally Kravich. One very specific thing I have learned from her is that juicing will deliver all the nutrients of fruits and vegetables in a more readily absorbent form.
Also, this is an easy way to increase you vegetable servings by drinking just one juice per day.
Vegetables and fruits are packed with many different kinds of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins, giving your body the building blocks it needs for perfect health and beautiful skin. This is internal skincare and should not be neglected.
The girls and I get our daily juices from either Free Foods or Liqueteria.
Although this newsletter has not been entirely about skin care I hope you find it useful in order to enhance all that’s already beautiful about you.
Remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that includes your viewpoint of what is beautiful for you.
And finding yourself attractive can be an evolution for most of us and in doing so, making it easier for others to find us so.
Lastly, I look forward to seeing you at Joanna Vargas Salon, Skin Care Sanctuary in New York City. Please make your appointments NOW at 212/949.2350 and get the best facial in New York City.
