The Face Firming Facial
November 25th, 2013
The microcurrent facial is also known in some circles as the face firming facial. It is in fact an anti aging spa treatment for your face, not matter what your age. Which brings me to my next point. Cosmetic surgery, skincare products, exercise and nutrition are some of the other options we women have to reverse or slow down the signs of aging.
It is a fact that as you and I age, our once youthful-looking faces, will begin to wane and sometimes look weathered. But I believe, as many skincare experts do, this is most often the result of lifestyle choices than the aging process.
This means you can do something about it.
In other countries, the coming of age and getting older for women comes with accolades such as, respect, wisdom etc. However, here in America, women, such as you and I, rather not have our faces reveal how “wise” we gotten.
Luckily in this modern times we can keep the laurels of age without having to sacrifice our youthful face.
When it comes to authenticity, tight, firm skin, is the official stamp of youth. But with time, comes the loss of collagen, elastin and the weakened support of muscles and facial tissues. However, there is an easy solution so you don’t have to succumb to the visible signs of aging.
Microcurrent was originally used as a medical procedure rather than as a beauty treatment. Originally discovered in 1830 this technology was mainly used in the medical field by doctors because it has the ability to heal the body a rate of 250% to 350% faster than someone not using microcurrent.
But it was the accidental discovery of a physician treating Bell’s palsy patients for paralysis that lead microcurrent to become integrated into the field of aesthetics. He noticed that the face of his patients were smoother and they appeared much younger looking after treatments.
Collagen: The Skin’s Building Block
Your skin is mainly made up of collagen up to 80% of it, according to Eric F. Bernstein, clinical associate professor with the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
This is your skin’s building component that keeps your skin’s structure firm and taut.
It has been found out that microcurrent can trigger collagen production, helping to plump up your skin and eliminate the visible signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles, creating a youthful and radiant complexion.
Hollywood stars were the first to popularize this facial in the United States for its quick-fix and no down time results. It is the perfect treatment to do before a major event as you will walk out glowing and ready to go. In the hands of an experience esthetician this facial will sculpt any problem area or better yet maintain a youthful complexion.
Additionally, the current mimics the body’s own electrical output, commanding the muscles to firm-up, lifting and toning. This is the equivalent of going to the gym but for the face.
You will see results after the first session but it is consistency that will yield the biggest improvements.
There are no known side effects to microcurrent but pregnant women should not have them or people with a pace maker, epilepsy or thrombosis.
Microcurrent facials stimulate the lymphatic system and therefore flushing out toxins, getting rid of excess water and puffiness. As a caution you should drink enough water to help your body flush out the toxins.
