The Fair Exuberance of Amy Adams

February 14th, 2012

Amy Adams has a lot to smile about these days. A career that started at a low simmer is now sizzling hot. This pretty, petite actress had been widely admired for playing upbeat, crazily optimistic characters that almost became her stock-in trade before she did a switch and played Mark Wahlberg’s no-nonsense, beer drinking girlfriend in The Fighter.

Adams began her career singing and dancing in musical theater after jettisoning her ballerina aspirations because she found ballet “too restrained and disciplined” for her personality and felt the enormous strain that it put on her body. She went on to audition for her first film role in Drop Dead Gorgeous. After moving to LA, the emerging actress was then cast in a few TV series including That 70s Show, Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville and The West Wing.

Amy garnered critical acclaim and her first Oscar nomination with her marvelous characterization of Ashley in Junebug. This brought her a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival that signaled a major turning point in her career followed by her commercial success of Enchanted. After Julia and Julia’s success, Amy Adams will play Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman movie, she is also set to produce and star in the film adaptation of Steve Martin’s novel Object of Beauty.

Amy’s Celebrity Skin Care Secrets: Facials and Red Tresses

Regular facials keep the starlet’s dry skin in check and her fair complexion is well protected from the sun. With gentle cleansing skin care treatments this actress keeps her skin naturally exfoliated, toned and moisturized to maintain her illustrious exuberance. Exfoliation helps shed worn epidermal layers and buffs the skin for supreme polished and refined appearance.

Facials can also hold free radicals at bay: pollutants, contaminants and environmental stress are neutralized when organic antioxidant skincare is applied as part of devoted regimen. Amy’s choice of professional facials thoroughly hydrate skin cells for diminished fine lines and wrinkles. Sufficient SPF sunscreen is also essential in slowing the aging process and shielding her alabaster skin from damaging UV rays.

Though she a natural strawberry blond she feels differently. “When I dyed my hair red the first time, I felt as if it was what nature intended. I have been accused of being a bit of a spitfire, so in that way, I absolutely live up to the stereotype. The red hair suits my personality. I was a terrible blonde!” And to compliment her glowing fair skin and fiery crown: one of Adams’ favorite accessories is her tooth whitener for total sparkle.

Losing Pregnancy Weight

The A-list star is happily balancing parenting her 20- month old daughter, her relationship with actor /artist Darren LeGallo and career. Adams claims, “I’m definitely not one of those women who make it look easy. But I’m more patient than I ever thought I would be, and I’m not hard on myself anymore.” When she speaks of shedding pregnancy weight Amy insists, “Since having Aviana, I have a muffin top, and that’s ok right now.” She says that motherhood has taught her that, “the whole purpose of my body was no longer to fit into a sample size. It was to nurture another being.”

While the former ballet dancer didn’t rush into an intense fitness routine, she keeps toned and flexible with pole-dance training and clearly years of dance training have had a positive effect on her physique. Amy admits, “I do love shoes that make my legs longer. I have the upper body of someone who’s 5ft 8in, so high heels help me even out the discrepancy.”
